Trekking pole specialist Komperdell has landed a major coup with a simpler, slicker, and easy single-handed adjustable pole, called the Stiletto. The new adjustable system allows the user to adjust the length of the pole using a neat button at the top of the housing and is spring-loaded so it extends at a press of the button for lengthening, so great for steep ascents. The ingenious idea recognises that we need to use trekking poles at different lengths on ascents, descents and the flat to stand secure and keep an overall balance. For regular poles, changing the height on standard twist-lock or power lock hiking poles is often too time-consuming and in turn more dangerous on descents but this new system should save those precious seconds.
